I have been a Great Taste Judge since 2018! I love the chance to champion the micro producers, start ups and new food businesses. The producers who really are trying to do something new and different with flavours. Unusually, entries are not judged on their turnover or ability to execute marketing, every entry is judged shoulder-to-shoulder and based entirely on taste. Everything is blind tasted with a single line description to tell you what it is, that’s it. As long as your product is sold somewhere, you can enter it, even if it’s a local cafe and 2 farmshops! And you’ll be judged equally against the whole market, competing not by category but by flavour. How cool is that?! I love seeing new trends and catching up with friends and contacts. But I really love spending a whole day speaking the language of taste.
